Mode of Action
TRIONE works by inhibiting the enzyme “4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD)”, which disrupts the production of carotenoids in plants, ultimately leading to chlorophyll bleaching and the death of the weed; essentially, it prevents the plant from producing essential pigments needed for photosynthesis, making it a selective post-emergence herbicide primarily used to control broadleaf and grassy weeds in maize crops.
